Baked Pita Chips

Baking your own pita chips is simple to do and worth the extra effort. They are so fresh and crisp, making it difficult to go back to eating the store-bought ones. I like to use the 365 brand whole wheat pita rounds from Whole Foods. They split easily and have great flavor. Enjoy these chips on their own or serve with your favorite dips and spreads.

Baked Pita Chips

  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale

4 pita bread rounds

2/3 cup olive oil

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

1 teaspoon cumin

1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350.
  2. In a small bowl combine the olive oil, paprika, cumin and salt.
  3. Using scissors, cut the edges off the pitas and separate into 2 pieces.
  4. Brush the rough side of the pita with the seasoned olive oil, stirring occasionally to keep the  seasonings evenly distributed.
  5. Stack the pita halves, rough side up and cut into 8 triangles.
  6. Place the triangles on a parchment-lined sheet pan.
  7. Bake for 10-15 minutes until browned.
  8. The chips will bake unevenly, so after about 10 or 12 minutes, remove the chips that are done while leaving the others to continue baking.
  9. Cool and store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
